What type of hair is used for ZOEVA makeup brushes?

  • After extensive research, we are proud to manufacture our brushes using our individually developed brush technology and fully vegan materials. Therefore, only pure, high-quality synthetic hair is used in the production of our brushes.

What materials are used to manufacture ZOEVA brushes?

  • Our ZOEVA makeup brushes go through 30 elaborate production steps to ensure durability and the highest quality. Specific characteristics created through special craftsmanship allow you to recognize the quality of our brushes.

The brush hairs are carefully bundled and cut by hand. Through an advanced “crimping” process, the brush handle is permanently fused with the refined brass ferrule, creating the three indentations visible on the ferrule. For extra durability, the brush hairs are also glued into the ferrule beforehand.

The wood used for the handle comes 100% from sustainable forestry. An oil-based lacquer is applied in six thin layers, making the real wood handle more resistant to external influences such as bathroom humidity.

All materials used in the production of our brushes are vegan. In addition, they undergo testing to ensure that no harmful substances or metals are used.

What is the difference between black and white brush hair?

  • All ZOEVA brushes are handcrafted using ultra-soft, pure synthetic hair. This sustainable synthetic hair is durable, shape-retaining, and cruelty-free.

The white brush hair is made from our innovative Soft-Vegan-Performance™ hair mix, specially developed for our powder brushes to mimic the performance of natural hair. It delivers flawless makeup results and a soft, voluminous brush feel.

The black brush hair consists of a mono-hair mix and can be used with all product textures.

How do I properly clean my brushes?

  • Our ZOEVA makeup brushes are made from pure synthetic hair. To ensure optimal makeup results, thorough and regular cleaning is essential and should be part of your beauty routine. This increases the lifespan of your brushes and helps prevent skin impurities.

We recommend cleaning your brushes as follows:

    1. Wet the brush hairs with lukewarm to body-temperature water.
    2. Clean the brush using our ZOEVA Brush Shampoo Bar or a mild shampoo in circular motions.
    3. For a deeper clean, use a textured surface such as our ZOEVA Brush Cleansing Pad.
    4. Lather thoroughly to remove all product residue.
    5. Rinse out the cleanser completely with lukewarm to body-temperature water.
    6. Gently squeeze out excess water from the brush hairs.
    7. Lightly brush the hairs over a soft towel.
    8. Lay the brush flat to dry. Ideally, place it at the edge of a surface so the brush head is free and air can circulate fully.

Do not dry the brush upright with the hairs facing upwards, as water may collect in the ferrule or handle. Once fully dry, the brush is ready to use again. Thanks to the high quality of the brush hairs, their shape and performance are maintained.

For a deeper clean, the synthetic brush hairs can also be disinfected without drying them out.

To be more environmentally friendly, you can fill a bowl with water and follow the same cleaning routine as described above.

Reddish pigments may leave stubborn stains—please pay special attention to the recommended water temperature in this case.

For quick cleaning in between uses, you can apply brush cleaner or disinfectant to a clean towel and gently wipe the brush. Please note that this does not replace regular deep cleaning.
